Downloaded TOPO map of UK, how to view in Basecamp?

Hi there,

I've got a Fenix 3 HR and Basecamp loaded onto my PC. My adventures are showing up, but I wanted to add map detail to the Basecamp application so paid £20 for a Garmin TOPO map of the UK and Ireland. I'm a total loss on how I load this detailed map into Basecamp? I only seem to be able to download the map to a compatible Garmin device (which the Fenix 3 HR is not), but I'm at a complete loss on how I load the map data into Basecamp?

Any help much appreciated.

I assume as you've paid £20 then it's a BirdsEye select map?

To use that mapping in BaseCamp you need to import the files from a device into a list in BaseCamp

I guess this could be TOPO U.K. and Ireland v4 Light, a map created form OSM data. I think you can't download it without an outdoor gps, and even if you got one, then I'm not sure if download works at all, since Garmin Communicator Plugin, which was used for this process, doesn't install in current browsers anymore

Better get some free OSM map, it could be even better then Garmin version, try these for example:

That is also £20 so your suggestion makes more sense than mine :)

As for GCP, when I last checked it works with IE11?

However neither map is compatible with the OPs device, but both could be used in BaseCamp if he had a compatible one. @GarethPaxton You may want to contact Garmin by phone, explain you've purchased a non compatible map and ask for a refund.

I think GCP still works in IE, which has like 30% of browser's market share. Makes me wonder if Garmin is interested in supporting downloads. Actually I have tripped on similar download problem, when trying to get this free basemap:
