Can BaseCamp be loaded onto a memory stick? My thought is that in this way I can use it on any computer I happen to have access to at the time. This would require that when BaseCamp is loaded it also creates the required support files on the stick as well.
Are you sure? I thought a copy of BC could be put on a stick, or in the Garmin folder on a GPSr, and run on any computer that you could plug either one into. Where did I get that? Probably from ADVRider.
Perhaps that has changed in the newer releases.
You can have BaseCamp (and Mapsource) with maps on pendrive, but any other data, like caches, tracks, routes etc, are going to be saved in user directory as provided by Windows.
Edit: maybe you can temporary redirect BaseCamp's directories from system to pendrive. But better not tile cache.
My BMW Nav-V came with a BaseCamp.exe in its memory. It was to be used to install BaseCamp on a computer while you were traveling so you could pug in the device and using the maps on the device do what you needed to do. But, I think the OP wants more, i.e., he doesn't want to have to install it on the guest computer.
He should take a look at the second version of Intel's Compute Stick which is a complete Windows 10 Home computer on a stick that can be plugged into an HDMI port such as those found on TVs in Hotel or Motel rooms. BaseCamp would have to be installed onto the stick as normal but you would have a PC in your pocket. Still need access to a keyboard and a mouse. Don't know if it would work on a regular PC's HDMI port.
