Basecamp error planning route from Donegal to Gettysburg PA USA

I'm having trouble using Basecamp to plan a route and I'm hoping another forum member can try this for me. I'm using Openmaps of North East USA which I have downloaded in order to get a routable map. I am trying to plan the route from Donegal PA to Gettysburg PA but instead of doing a drive distance of approx 110 miles it is giving me a very long route going across to the west coast and back again approx 1000 miles. The activity setting is driving. I would be interested to know if another forum member can reproduce this issue.

(I am planning a possible trip to the US from Australia later this year or in 2017)

I used the "OSM Combiner" program to make up the map of the States I wanted.

I also have (genuine) Garmin EU maps which I bought about 18 months ago for my trip to the UK last year on an SD card. Is it possible to transfer those maps to my PC for use in Basecamp or do I have to attach the GPS unit to my PC if I want to use them for Basecamp?

No it's not but what you can do is copy the files to a USB stick or card, BaseCamp will read the maps from that.

If you can can copy the CN maps (it might not be possible), you can use a virtual disk program to simulate the SD card. Use the same folder layout and mount (attach) the virtual disk as "removable" (otherwise, Basecamp won't SE it).
