timestamp and directions completely messed up when joining tracks

Hi Guys,

Using BaseCamp 4.6.2 to edit off road tracks I've found that the final edit track get completely messed up time stamp and directions.
Let's say I join 3 segments to build a track and try to load the final joined track at RideWithGps, the result is I get 3 separate rides... Gpsies at the other hand upload it as unique track but I lost all info such speed , etc...

Also, I have found not a single software able to read .tcx files exported by Basecamp...

Any work around?

    Unfortunately, position coordinates and times stamps are used calculate speed data. When you combined the three tracks, the second track was reversed to obtain the correct direction but it also was recorded at an earlier date than the first track. The net effect is that you are time traveling (i.e. the time difference between adjacent points are negative).

    The track and distance can be salvaged by converting the track to a route and then back to a track. This will strip out all of the time and elevation data. If you have a map with a digital elevation model, elevation data will remain, but it may no longer be what was recorded - instead it could be that of the elevation model.

    I'm afraid that keeping the speed data may require editing all of the time stamps for the 2nd and 3rd tracks.

    An alternative would be to enter your own summary on the notes tab of a track without time data.

    I don't know enough about the .tcx format to guarantee that the resulting track will be valid. A .gpx file should be valid.

    Hi,

    I'm aware of those problems but I still wish Basecamp would give the option to overwrite time-stamp in order to fix it. I use Gpsies to accomplish that. Simple upload the joined track as a gpx file and than download it as tcx and it is done... Gpsies fix and convert...

    GPSBABEL will convert tcx to GPS. It will also add or rewrite timestamps.
