The master reset cured the problem; the small routes transferred from Basecamp to the RV660 as routes. Surprisingly, the large route - the one that was over 1400 miles long - transferred as well. Thanks for suggesting this cure - much, much easier than calling Garmin customer support.
Maybe this will help another RV660 user: the master reset instructions from Garmin for the RV660 are not exactly correct. Do all the stuff up to and including pressing and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen. The word "system" will appear and start moving a bit on the screen. Continue pressing and holding the lower right hand corner of the screen. It takes a while. Eventually a couple of "loading" messages appear. When all the loading is done, the start up screen will appear and your user settings will be gone - you have to set up for location, language, and any other special set ups so you will know that a Master Reset happened. There was no prompt at any time that said: "Erase all user data?" - it just happened.
Help from a forum like this is so much more effective and easier than calling customer support. I appreciate it.
