Problem starting BaseCamp 4.6.2 My collection gets empty.

After some days using this version, I'm having a problem: BaseCamp don't remember any new track I add.

Every time I start the program, I've got the same message in a pop-up window:

BaseCamp Initialization
Cannot load the following areas:
Lista data file
Warning: Data could be lost. Do you want to attempt to fix the data. Fix / Cancel

I click on Fix and, one more tima, My Collection is absolutely empty.

It never happened to me in 4.4 version.

Any help would be welcome. Thanks.

Sorry mates. Anyone have thie same problem?

It happens averytime I close BaseCamp and try to run it again. I get the alert, click on Fix and then My Collection is empty, every time I do it!.

It doesn't matter if I save a Backup before closing; when I recover it, My Collection recovered is empty, no tracks on it.

I've been using BaseCamp for years without problems.

    Please, help!

Well, here is what I would do: Look under Garmin in C:Users/yourname/AppData//GARMIN/BaseCamp/ (version number) for a file called AllData.gdb.bak. If it is much larger than AllData.gdb all you have to do is switch names. (Name AllData.gdb to AllData.gbx and then Alldata.gdb.bak to AllData.gdb. Start the program and see what happens.

This is for Win7. You may have to do a larger search for those two files if you are not on Win7. BC stores the old databases and their baks from previous versions under the first two digits of the version number. You may have several. Look at the time stamps and sizes and choose the latest bak file that appears to be large. Mine is now 6700 Kb, for comparison. An empty Alldata will be just a few Kb.

Once you get your data back, start doing REGULAR Backups from the file menu. :) This is completely different from the *.bak files above.

Every time you close the program it writes a bak file from the gdb file, so if the gdb file is fubar, the backup will be too, which is why you may have to go back to an Alldata.gdb or AllData.gdb.bak from a previous version.

It has worked! Thanks a lot Rocky. And I'm going to follow your advice, frequently backup.
