Route Preference - Right-turn 'Rule'

Apologies if previous postings on this subject.

UPS has used a right-turn policy since 2004 and it works. UPS drivers are encouraged to take routes using only right-turns, as avoiding left-turns in downtown areas reduces long idle times in heavy oncoming traffic. If interested, see this Priceonomics article: http://priceonomics.com/why-ups-trucks-dont-turn-left/

Adding a right-turn 'rule' to BaseCamp, as a Route Preference option, would be appreciated.

  • Presume you are in America? I am in UK where we drive on the left, so my equivalent would be a turn left rule. I ride a bicycle and have for many years preferred turn left routes over turn right routes for safety and for speed. Sometimes it's faster to go a little bit further on turn lefts rather than turn right and have to wait for ages for a gap in the traffic. So I will give you a vote for your suggestion, as long as there is a turn left rule as well! I have sometimes wondered if turning right (left in your case) was made illegal would we all get everywhere twice as fast with less hassle!!?
