Waypoints Name Conflict (Invalid name entry)

1. When importing Waypoints into my Garmin Montana 650 from BaseCamp, it will add some digit after the waypoints name if it find similar name, e.g. A1, A2, A3...A1, A2, A3 will become A1, A2, A3...A11, A21, A31. It's very confusing and tricky especially if you want to print out for presentation. I've been adding Full Stop "." after the waypoint name to "bypass" the conflict! e.g. A1 "A1." "A1.." ridiculous, but works, works.
I've tried but is there anyway you can make it "no conflict" if I use a different set of icon with the same waypoint names...after all, different icon represent different things even though with the same name, right?

2. The default Icon in BaseCamp is always the "Blue Flag" when "marking", would be nice if allow us to choose our default icon, or like the GPS unit, always default to the last icon used, very nice feature indeed!

Greatly appreciated if the above modification can be made.

p/s Attachment do not allow gpx file, why not?
  • 1. BaseCamp names are simply pointers to a data element so you can't have two names the same.

    2. Can't see the need myself for this but I should think it would be possible, hopefully a BaseCamp developer will pick it up.

Waypoints Name Conflict (Invalid name entry)

My works involved several forest/Land compartments with the government at the same time, therefore, needed to set several routes as boundaries into the gps unit for surveys purposes.
Those waypoint name or "Station" were specified by the Forestry/Land Department, so I can't make up those names freely. Every Station obviously will start with A...B...C...etc:(
