How do I send only part of a route to another rider?

Please excuse my ignorance when it comes to using BC, as I'm new to this. I got invited to go on a ride with a friend who has a Harley with integrated navigation (I think is bike is 1 yr old, 2 at most). I have the destination planned in BC using Trip Planner, and I know how to add fuel stations along the way, etc. However, I need my route to get me to his house first, and from there we will ride together to the destination. Can I plan just a single trip and then somehow send him the part of the trip that starts at his house, so that he can import it into his Harley navigation? Or, do I need to plan a separate trip for him, starting at his residence? It would be nice to plan the trip just once, adding fuel stations and other stops along the way and then be able to "excise" the part of the trip that pertains to him (and other riders, possibly) as we meet along the way.

Thanks for any help!
  • Sure. Plan the whole route then having sent it to your Zumo use the divide tool to split the route at his house.

If you want to keep a copy of the full route then right click it and select duplicate. That will create a copy that you can mess with without changing the original.
  • Route insists on using a parallel street that I am trying to avoid

I'm trying to follow a State Highway, but the automated route planner is taking me off the highway, through a residential area, and then back onto the highway. The highway jogs to the side where this happens, but there is a clear continuance of the roadway.

I've tried to use shaping points, but the route planner then takes me around several blocks, absolutely insisting that I go down this residential street. I even put one shaping point on each block on the correct street, in order, and BC sends me round and round blocks over and over.

I can't seem to find a tool that will allow me to "pick up" the route, move it to where I want it, and then drop it there. How do I do this?
  • LOL, nevermind, I figured out why it was doing this. I used Google Earth and figured out that the section I was trying to use was a one way street in the opposite direction of travel. BC = smarter than me..... haha.
