BaseCamp Issue with dividing trails that I have copied

I have imported a file that has over 300+ tracks/poi's/waypoints/etc into BaseCamp in a List (Moab) under a List Folder.

I have then created a New List Folder and a List (Poison Spider)

I then go into the original List named Moab (300+) and copy a couple of tracks that I plan on using

I then past those tracks in the List named Poison Spider where I intend to alter them a bit to meet my requirements.

So far so good no problems ......

I run into a problem if I try and divide a track in the Poison Spider List, it divides the track which now creates a shorter track with the same name, and another track with a Track #, when this happens the part that was given a new name now disappears from the Original List called Moab ..... Problem is I don't wont to alter that folder, so everytime I find my self deleting the contents of the Moab List and the reimporting it again.

I hope this makes sense ....

Thanks in Advance for the help

  • One point of great confusion arising from this evolution is the "database" myth. Basecamp does not use a standard sort of database that any IT professional would recognise as a proper DBMS.

So? I would argue that :) that what an application is should be based on how it functions not on what an IT professional would recognize it to be. Would the earliest examples of databases (1960's) look like a proper DBMS by today's standards (this is an honest question not a snide remark).

From a user perspective BaseCamp can collect data and has means to manage, access and update said data. So I feel it can rightfully be considered a database, however primitive it may or may not be, however non-conforming it may be to today's standards or however ugly the programming may appear to a professional. It qualifies by at least one definition of what the term database means.

And yes this is argument for argument's sake.

But more on topic, does this post or many of the previous posts actually provide help to the original poster? Isn't that really what we should be doing?

Agreed. And since the OPs question has been answered I'll close this thread.
