I just did an update on my Nuvi and ended with over 3GBs including Base Camp on my computer that I can not use as my map is locked out. To unlock i have to enter a key or coupon that I do not have. When starting I had to select a map and was told that I should use the installed map not the one on my device so clicked on always use the one installed on my computer so now I can not switch back and my map is locked. Then when I tried to use this forum I had to register and to do that I had to enter a name that your system would accept, a dozen tries later you can see what I got, whats wrong with a bunch of people using the same name, that's life! Just going to have to un install all this I guess.
I'm slightly confused. Where is the map locked? Does it work on your nuvi or is it simply in Basecamp it's locked? If just BaseCamp have you tried going to Maps, Manage Map products then selecting the map and choosing 'Unlock online'? If so what happens?
it is the Base camp map installed on my computer that is locked and if you go to unlock online it requires the code that came with the disk that I do not have as I downloaded this with my update.
If that's the case first thing to try is to download the map again. Use Map Options in Express and select to install to computer only. If that doesn't work you will need to call Garmin Product Support for the unlock code.
I have had the same map unlock problem for the last two map updates. The map
is downloaded to BaseCamp, but is locked. I can follow the unlock instructions
several times. I can download the map again. The map will not unlock until I call
Garmin Support. They will give you the code to unlock the map. That will not work
either. What will finally work is to let Garmin Support take control of your computer
with Team View, and they can unlock the map.
