Stop the snap process

I wonder if someone can help please.

When I plan a route in Basecamp as I click a point it snaps a route using roads/tracks Which is fantastic but what if I want to snap from A to B and when I get to B and I want to go across country where there is no tracks to position C then carry on using the road/track snap feature, is the a toggle switch?

Thank you for your help in anticipation.

You can change the profile of each leg of a route. In this case you can use the Direct profile for the leg that goes off road.

This can all be done in the Route properties window.

My practice is to create routes directly on the Nuvi 56, without Basecamp. Previously I have reported that this device would route "off-road" (direct point to point) only to the first destination in Trip Planner. Then the device would revert to road routing for the remainder of the trip. I now see that my Nuvi 56 will route "off-road" direct for all points in a device created route. I have not purposely upgraded the firmware since posting my previous comments on the off-road routing subject, but have connected the device to a Windows computer multiple times for file inspection and transfer, so it is likely that either I erred in my initial observations or Garmin has slipped in a firmware upgrade. FWIW.

    is there a toggle switch?

There is a button to do exactly what you want. If you hold the <Ctrl> key while you are adding new route legs then a "direct" route segment will be added. When you release the <Ctrl> key, the next route leg will have the previously used vehicle type.
