Just upgrade from a Nuvi 350 to a Nuvi 55lm due to the fact it was cheaper to buy new GPS with Life Time maps than update the 350. I was using the 350 to route my way for Geocaching. Now for my Question how can I get the cache icon to show up on the 55 instead of a heart. I am using Base camp if that helps with answer.
You can't; at least not using waypoints. The nüvi 55 supports a very limited set of waypoint icons, and the geocache icon isn't one of them...
It is possible however to put the waypoints as POI on the nüvi using Garmin POI Loader. That way you can use any icon you want, but you'll have to provide the icon file yourself. Another downside is that the device won't show custom POI's when zoomed out too far.
You could use JaVaWa RTWtool instead of POI Loader to create a POI file. RTWtool automatically adds the icon image and it supports every possible cache icon.
