We've just released a new version of BaseCamp. You can download it at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435. Updating from within the app will be available shortly.

We've interacted with a number of users that helped us track down some pesky bugs. Thank you so much for your assistance. We appreciate it very much.

  • Added support for downloading preview imagery for BirdsEye Select.
  • Added support for displaying DEM shading for some cycling map products.
  • Added support for track metadata from FIT files.
  • Improved entry of position coordinates on the Waypoint Properties dialog.
  • Improved performance of some track editing operations on the map.
  • Updated the Czech translation for 'road'.
  • Updated route avoidance settings to be more like PNDs.
  • Fixed BaseCamp incorrectly showing certain maps on card or device as locked.
  • Fixed route via departure dates not always showing as expected on the Route Properties dialog.
  • Fixed routes created in BaseCamp not displaying lane assist and junction views on some nuvi devices.
  • Fixed geocaches not correctly showing as found on Oregon devices.
  • Fixed search issue in some maps.
  • Fixed issue canceling route calculations.
  • Fixed out of memory crashes related to the undo buffer growing too large.
  • Fixed incorrect total space shown in the Device Information dialog for some nuvi and zumo devices.
  • Fixed Send To Device and Receive From Device dialogs sometimes not allowing the user to select a device.
  • Fixed an issue with BaseCamp prompting that old software updates are available.
  • Fixed other various bugs.

Addendum: we've just released 4.6.2. This is a bug fix release which addresses a common crash.

  • Fixed an issue displaying route elevation graphs

  • There are no BaseCamp staff any more. Provided you've switched off and back on again after first uninstalling then installing BC I suggest you try calling Garmin support.

    Hello,

thats quite interesting. Because there are still open cases (bugs) on BaseCamp. Where GPI files are not displayed correctly when they have a bigger size. The last info I have is that the BaseCamp team could verify the issue, but they did not know the reason.

    The cases are:
    Application Support (Case 117040)
    Application Support (Case 135270)

And the last info I got from Garmin:
"Case 117040 is still an open issue. Unfortunately it will require a significant redesign of the custom POI feature, and we haven't been able to schedule this work yet."

The example of BaseCamp shows where Garmin is going. And this makes me sad. Seems that Garmin will slow down all GPS issues for terrestric navigation. There are no professional terrestric devices in view, Even for Navstar Generation 2 (L2C) there is no information about new chipsets and devices.

    Kind regards,
    Paul

Everyone including the moderator has been recommending to NOT install the 4.7 update.

    Why so?
Do you have a "link" to any of these recommendations?

ps - I absolutely HATE reCAPTCHA!
  • Look through the various threads. There are issues with installing maps to devices and losing the link to Google Earth to name two.

  • I have been using 4.6.2 with Google Earth Pro and using the view will bring Google Earth up. I linked it as shown in many posts except I drilled down with CMD then used the /RegServer. I would like the View returned to the newer version of Basecamp. Some folks may not be able to use the view but those of us that can shouldn't be deprived of using it. Version 4.7 keeps poping up saying it is ready to be installed but I don't want it without the View. Can that be fixed??

Version 4.7 has a lot of serious problems. You should not use it.
  • Yes, I know. That's why I made the post. The View has been removed and is still workable and Version 4.7.0 keeps popping up to be installed and I don't want it. They should at least make the repairs if we are going to keep 4.6.2 and not update Basecamp any longer...
