We've just released a new version of BaseCamp. You can download it at http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=4435. Updating from within the app will be available shortly.

We've interacted with a number of users that helped us track down some pesky bugs. Thank you so much for your assistance. We appreciate it very much.

  • Added support for downloading preview imagery for BirdsEye Select.
  • Added support for displaying DEM shading for some cycling map products.
  • Added support for track metadata from FIT files.
  • Improved entry of position coordinates on the Waypoint Properties dialog.
  • Improved performance of some track editing operations on the map.
  • Updated the Czech translation for 'road'.
  • Updated route avoidance settings to be more like PNDs.
  • Fixed BaseCamp incorrectly showing certain maps on card or device as locked.
  • Fixed route via departure dates not always showing as expected on the Route Properties dialog.
  • Fixed routes created in BaseCamp not displaying lane assist and junction views on some nuvi devices.
  • Fixed geocaches not correctly showing as found on Oregon devices.
  • Fixed search issue in some maps.
  • Fixed issue canceling route calculations.
  • Fixed out of memory crashes related to the undo buffer growing too large.
  • Fixed incorrect total space shown in the Device Information dialog for some nuvi and zumo devices.
  • Fixed Send To Device and Receive From Device dialogs sometimes not allowing the user to select a device.
  • Fixed an issue with BaseCamp prompting that old software updates are available.
  • Fixed other various bugs.

Addendum: we've just released 4.6.2. This is a bug fix release which addresses a common crash.

  • Fixed an issue displaying route elevation graphs
  • MSI Error on install of upgrade and on full install

    Running Windows 10 64 bit

    All Windows updates are up-to-date
The only Virus Checker I use is Windows Defender

    • Opened Basecamp 4.61 and was prompted for the upgrade to 4.62
    • Clicked OK. 1/2 way through the install, I got an error message "MSI Error: InstallFailure"
    • Closed everything, checked for Windows updates, installed the one update listed, Defender"
    • Rebooted computer (hard, not soft)
    • Tried to open Basecamp, message said program not found - assuming prior upgrade attempt uninstalled Basecamp 4.61
    • Went to Garmin web site, downloaded 4.52
    • Right clicked downloaded file, selected Install as Adminstrator
    • Same error message received
    • Right clicked downloaded file, selected Properties, changed compatibility to Windows 8, ran as admin again
    • Same error message received

    Thoughts?

    Thanks,

    Michael

Lost all route and waypoint data

Small upgrade to 4.6.2 on Windows 7/62 has resulted in a loss of thousands of points and several routes. Restore to the old version doesn't seem to work either. Where is the data kept, and how to I re-import it?

    All help appreciated big time!

  • Base Camp 4.6.2 no text names for tracks copied to internal storage frm My Collection

I believe this is the same as the problem Andrea is facing.
Since updating to v4.6.2 of BaseCamp from 4.5.2) any tracks with text names for example 'my ride home' or 'big hills', loose that text name when copied from the local Library/My collection in BaseCamp to the internal storage on both my Edge 810 and Edge1000. They only appear in the internal storage area display panel as a date (in the same way recent activities appear) . This makes file management of activities on the Edge internal storage almost impossible via base camp. The tracks do, however retain their text name within the Edge courses folder.
I have enclosed before and after screenshots of the two versions of BaseCamp.

Hello, I have an Edge 810 fully updated to the last FW 5.00 software release.

Before to upgrade to BaseCamp 4.6.2, I Always had the features to "see", let me say browse, which COURSES are loaded into the memory of the Edge 810.

Well, after the upgrade to the 4.6.2, BaseCamp doesn't anymore display any loaded COURSES !!!
Only (and I repeat clearly only) the ACTIVITIES and the Waypoints are displayed correctly as before with older BaseCamp versions.

To be honest, I upgraded to 4.6.1 to 4.6.2, so I don't remember if this problem was affecting also the 4.6.1. Anyway, let me be short, any version of BaseCamp older than 4.6 was fine for that and I never had problem of Courses browsing.

To state clearly also that I upgraded my Edge 810 to FW 5.00 very early and since the FW 5.00 was released I never had trouble of Courses browsing (I had some crashed ... but other matter and already reported).

In the case this is not the right place where to post such a kind of thread, kindly forward me to the right one.

    Many thanks in advance.
    Kind regards,
    Andrea

    Thank you:
I found many files in the folder.
My files latest revision date is rather old, yet I modified some routes and points this week. I do know that at the very least I won't lose everything. Thanks again!
  • How long should it take to install Basecamp 4.6.2?

I have Win 8 and just wanted to update from the previous version of Basecamp. It ran for several hours and then I stopped it. Then I couldn't find Basecamp (all the shortcuts no longer worked) so I downloaded the program. When I ran install it went right back to about half way on the green indicator and it has been there another couple of hours.
  • Something is wrong somewhere as it should only take a few minutes.
  • OK, after 2 reboots I was finally able to uninstall Basecamp. Then the reinstall with the fresh download went quickly and smoothly. Back in business. Thanks

Junction view not working on NUVI 2597

    • Fixed routes created in BaseCamp not displaying lane assist and junction views on some nuvi devices.

    endSnip

    Hi,

I was pleased to see this fix listed on the last Basecamp update, but unfortunately the problem still exists on my Nuvi 2597.

Routes input on the Nuvi are OK, but routes downloaded from Basecamp do not show the junction view unless they are recalculated on the Nuvi, which often results in slightly different routing and rather defeats the object of planning the route on Basecamp first!

Would a fix for this be possible in the next update, please?

    Andy
  • That's strange because I have a 2508 that is the same series as yours but it works okay with routes sent from BaseCamp. Are you also running the latest software on your nuvi?
