Should I be using BaseCamp?

When I run 4.4.6 on my win10x32 EeePc system, the video crashes if I attempt to play it. If I skip playing I am told that my driver does not support 3D but I don't mind that 3D is missing. I cannot upgrade from 4.4.6 but that is another post here.

My question is whether I should stop using MapSource and switch to BaseCamp. My son had an older garmin (sorry don't remember the model) and it has 2gb of internal memory and supports 2gb MAX of external memory. When I upgrade his garmin, using MapSource, I select as much as will fit on the external 2gb memory and the remainder of the NT North American I then put on the internal memory. I do not see how to do this in 4.4.6 BaseCamp as there is no map selection.
  • There is, you simply right click on the device and select Install maps ... you can then custom select parts of any map if you wish/need to.

Hey BeemerBiker, if Mapsource is working fine for you why would you switch to Basecamp which already appears to be giving you headaches? Are there things in it you think you want to do that Mapsource can't do?

I have Basecamp installed on a PC which supports it quite well but I still use Mapsource for more than 95‰ of what i do. About the only thing I use Basecamp for is to convert a route to a track or vice versa. I maintain all my data (waypoints, tracks) in Mapsource because it's so much cleaner and quicker.
