USB not connecting

When I plug my Montana 650t into my computer it says device not recognised and I can not transfer tracks to the device or read the maps in it, please advise any fixes I have tried all sorts of resets on the device but no difference.

Hello Russell,

Make sure your Montana is set on "Garmin Serial" (manual page 35).
Use a bottle of compressed air to blow out the mini usb port on the Montana. Dirt or lint can prevent a connection.
Plug into the wall charger to make sure it will charge to verify that you have a good connection.
Try all the other usb ports on your computer.
Try a different usb cord.

One time I had to connect a friends gps (cant remember the model) using "Garmin Spanner" (manual page 35) so you might try it.
