BaseCamp 4.5.2, exporting data & using microSD card in a 62s?

In BaseCamp 4.5.2, if you double click on a route stored on a Garmin GPSmap62s you get a screen with the following columns:
  • Index
  • Elevation
  • Leg distance
  • Leg time
  • Leg speed
  • Leg course
  • Date & time
  • Position
  • Temperature(in my case)

Is there any way of exporting this data as a usable .CSV file? I am particularly interested in the "Leevation" and "Leg distance" figures; I can't see an easy (or even a difficult) way of calculating the latter based on Latitude and Longitude from a .GPX type file.

As an aside, I notice that the "Ascent" and "Descent" figure never agree following a circular walk - presumably becayuse of changes in barometric pressure?

Also, I have a Discoverer 1:25l - Lake District microSD card in my 62s. I have a distinct feeling that this used to be accessible from within BAseCamp in the past. I can no longer see a way to access it from within BaseCamp 4.5.2. Is there any way of accessing it?

Thanks in advance for any feedback

I recently posted a similar question. It seems there's no current way to get route data exported in a user friendly way, nor is there a way for a user to parse such data from an exported gpx, since it is not saved by BC.

It's a pity that BC makes such useful on the fly calculations only to left them as on screen data, without going the extra mile to develop a procedure to export it.

I have got a little further with importing the data from BaseCamp:

    • Get to the "Properties" tab.
    • Press Ctrl+A to select everything
    • Right-click & Copy
    • Open Notepad and paste everything in
    • Save the resulting file
    • The columns appear to be delimited by "Tab" characters
    • Import the file into Excel (I use OpenOffice so can't help with this . . . sorry)
    • You should now have all the relevant details in a spreadsheet
    • You can use the "Edit" function to remove all instances of " km/h", " m", °true, °C, etc.
    • Tidying up Date & Time and Position is trickier but I am not particularly interested in them

    More work will doubtless help.

    Use GPSBabel to convert....

Why not just export the GPX file and then use GPSBabel to convert it to a csv? Or just read it in off your device sdcard as input for the conversion?

If you Google for something like "how to calculate the distance between two points using longitude and latitude excel" there are lots of hits on the math. Look like it will work in your preferred spreadsheet program, too. Initial math is somewhat tedious but once completed then it just works.
