I have been recording the tracks of a couple of recent walks, saving them to BC as a route. The distance on the GPS when I save the track is always somewhat longer than that shown when I look at the route details on BC, for instance 7.02 miles on the GPS, but only 6.4 miles according to BC. If I save the track itself onto BC, and don't save it as a route (because one day I might wish to repeat it), then the difference is simply due to rounding, and is negligible.
Does anyone know why
(a) saving a track as a route saves a different (in my limited experience, always shorter) distance, and
(b) if there is a fix for this, other than simply saving the track?
Thanks
