Grid reference entry improvement

When editing the grid reference of a waypoint in basecamp, it would make it much easier if it was possible to simply overwrite existing grid reference numbers instead of inserting additional points and deleting the old ones.

I assume this would apply to other grid reference systems as well, but in OS GB, 5 values are required for both northings and eastings. Again, why cannot there simply be 5 data fields for each of these sets of values?

You can simply edit a waypoint. I do it all the time. There is no need to enter a new one and delete the old one.

I think you misunderstood the request. I believe they want the ability to overwrite instead of insert when editing and existing Waypoint - similar to what is done in Word by pressing the Insert key.

The idea of a separate field for each digit probably isn't very practical. I think it would require building a unique popup window for every possible format - i.e. a separate field for each digit = separate box for each digit.

Perhaps the OP could clarify?

You're probably right re-reading the OPs post. However I guess since I never use overwrite in Word either I don't see the issue :)

It's going to be hard to get BC to modify the way it handles that edit box, because it is a "live" edit, in the sense that every digit change triggers an auto-calc of everything.

Just touch one single digit anywhere in the box and, if you have lots of routes that include that waypoint, sit back and enjoy (not) the fireworks.
