Basecamp routing

I'm trying to create a route using basecamp so I can transfer it to my garmin 1000 & follow it.

Problem is when selecting the route by clicking on the roads I want to travel on, basecamp routing puts me on off road trails, even though I have selected unpaved roads to avoid. I have tried this in truck & automotive and it still routes me through fields.

Anyone any ideas since its driving me nuts.

My guess would be that you have the Global Map selected on the Map Products tool bar (tool bar can be found under the View menu if it is not active). The Global Map can not be used for Automated/Calculated Routes (Any Activity Profile except Direct).

If your device has a routable map, BaseCamp should be able to access it if the device is connected to the computer. It may take a while the first time you start up BaseCamp with your device attached. Otherwise, you will need to buy a Garmin Map or obtain a free routable map off the internet.

If your device has a routable map, there are means to make it available to BaseCamp without the device being attached, but I am not familiar with them.
