BaseCamp fails to start in Windows 10

C:\Users\"YOUR USER NAME"\AppData\Local\GARMIN_Corp\BaseCamp.exe_Url_urbejbdz42c555ix3xqbitecusqt0tuj\4.5.2.1\user.config

is causing my problem; I have to delete this file EVERY time I want to start BaseCamp.

I have spent an hour or so with the software trouble shooters who lead me to the "fix".
We thought it was going to be a one time evolution, but it turns out I have to delete it every time I start BaseCamp.

This "fix" has also been posted in an other posting. I hope some one comes up with a permanent fix in the near future.

Can you email one of these user.config files to [email protected]?

    Thanks

As a temporary hack you could write a batch file that deleted the config file and then ran BC. Instead of running BC directly (or via a shortcut) you would run the batch file (or via a shortcut).

    eg runbc.bat:
    del /q C:\Users\"YOUR USER NAME"\AppData\Local\GARMIN_Corp\BaseCamp.exe_Url_urbejbdz42c555ix3xqbitecusqt0tuj\4.5.2.1\user.config
    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Garmin\BaseCamp\BaseCamp.exe"

    BaseCamp workaround for startup

    One click is nice. Thanks.
Hopefully the files I sent will help.

I have now found out that IF I DO NOT click the box "do no show at startup" on the opening Splash Screen AND just close it with either the "close" button or the screens "X" I can open BaseCamp repeatedly. Either way I can not disregard the Splash Screen every time I open BaseCamp. Not a big deal now that I know how to work around the original problem of not being able to run BaseCamp at all.

There are only a few lines added to the user.config when I check the "do not show at startup" box and try to reopen BaseCamp and they all deal with the <TaskUI.Properties.Settings>, as far as I see.
