Hi guys
Another update on Basecamp came out and it still not possible to view selected tracks directly on Google Earth...When will be solved for good?...:(
Best Regards
  • Google Earth still opens directly from Basecamp for me so the problem isn't a universal one. Have you tried reinstalling GE?

yes. I´m running the latest versions of Basecamp and GE Pro. With older GE or GE Pro versions problem disappears...

These changes were made by Google (not BaseCamp), and are in preparation of their discontinuing Google Earth. In our testing if you have GE running and then try to view in Google Earth, it does work correctly. If GE isn't running, the app won't be launched.

It is not less true to say that many applications continue to open the newest versions of GE/GP without issue.

So yes, Google changed things, but no, the change does not mean that it is now impossible for an application to use other methods to call GE/GP, and open it, without error. The decision to adapt or not to the Google changes is, of course, up to the developer of the application.
  • BaseCamp to Google Earth

Nevertheless, if I manually start GE, all the BaseCamp 'View in GE' functions work as they previously did. I routinely view selected waypoints and/or tracks in GE with no issues. I just have to manually start GE first. Three mouse clicks. :D

    google earth not loading

    hi guys

    newbie here I am afraid.

I just downloaded the latest version of basecamp. when I try to export a track to google earth it comes up with an error stating that google earth is not installed

I have seen some threads explaining a workaround were you load and open google earth first but this did work for me.

I am using windows 10 with a Dell XPS.

I hope somebody can help soon as this feature was why I purchased a GPS

I open Google Earth before opening BaseCamp and the error message says Google Earth isn't open.

I also have a problem where it seems BaseCamp is re-installing itself every time I open it up?

    Any help would be appreciated.

I don't know enough yet to speak about integration issues with Google Earth on Windows 10, but you still have options. BaseCamp will export both GPX files and KML files. Google Earth will import both GPX files and KML files. So you can still get your data from your GPS through BaseCamp and into Google Earth.
  • Last Google Earth Pro update breaks BaseCamp calling previously open Google Earth

I been using Google Earth Pro (and occasionally Google Earth) with the BaseCamp "View in Google Earth" function quite satisfactorily by having either GE or GE Pro running.

But after recently updating Google Earth Pro to the following build, apparently changes in this build permanently breaks the above work around..

    Google Earth Pro
    7.1.5.1557
    Build Date
    5/20/2015
    Build Time
    11:07:50 pm

Now having Google Earth or Google Earth Pro open no longer works in terms of allowing the "View in Google Earth" function to work.

Unfortunate... I hope in a future BaseCamp release this can be made to work again.

Tested this on two different machines running Windows Seven Pro... same result.

FWIW, I have the same build of GEP (7.1.5.1557) and in my Win 10 machine, as long as GEP is running then BC "View in Google Earth" function works fine.
