Mac Spinning Wheel appears using BC library

Since Basecamp 4.5.0 do I have an issue when surfing through the library column.
By surfing I mean scrolling and clicking several maps and routes or tracks.
When doing so after a few clicks the Mac Spinning Wheel appears.
The only way to release BC again is waiting severals minutes or moving the mouse-pointer over the Mac Dock.

I already removed the Garmin files from the Saved Saved Application folder.
And I have removed Basecamp and re-installed it.
My Mac is running OS X Yosemite v10.10.4
And this issue appear on my iMac and MacBook retina.

Does anyone know a solution to this problem?

I've never seen this issue. Could either of you do a BaseCamp backup and post it somewhere for me?
  • I initially reported this in the original 4.5 release thread that got deleted. At that time you thought is had to do with the change in the way map segments were cached to deal with the retina display issues of past releases.

I have the same problem with the spinning wheel. Using the most recent updates for the OS and BC. As soon as I move the mouse arrow to the MacDock I can return to BC without the wheel. This is on my desk top I'll have to see how it goes with my MacBook Air. The MB was just purchased in May so I would assume the OS is the latest and I've updated BC on it.

    Hope this can be fixed.

I get a brief spinning wheel when I change maps, but not when selecting user data or device data from the library. There is significant lag when switching map positions because of the retina issues mentioned previously, but not an indefinite spinning-wheel. I took the error reported here to be related to scrolling and selecting user and device data from the left sidebar.

If anyone can get me a backup copy of their library, then I may have more luck recreating and fixing this issue.

I just checked the MB Air. No spinning wheel. Of course that was a 2 minute test. The MB OS is 10.10.4. The desk top is 10.10.5. In a few days I'll be leaving on a trip so I will not be updating anything till I get back in late October.

I don't know how to download a copy of the library If the directions are simple I can give it a shot.

  • I was getting the spinning wheel many times last night. We are on a camping trip and I thought I was in big trouble. I would walk off and leave the computer spinning and it would never stop. I finally discovered bring up the force quit dialog box would stop the spinning and basecamp did not crash. I got my route fixed. I will try it today and if I have the problem I will post. I was editing routes, had switched to 24K map and was spinning wheel just about every time I tried to move the route or waypoint to the nuvi.
  • Wurth,

I went to BC and got the spinning in about 8 clicks I clicked on 4 or 5 waypoints and clicked a list and got the spinning beach ball. I let it spin for about a minute before I hit Option Command Escape. When the force quit dialog appeared BC came back to life. The All data.gdb is 3.2 MB. I would think I could email the data file.

I used the MacBook last night, for more than a couple minutes, and after a short while the spinning ball came in to play.
