BaseCamp on two computer

Hello

I did a lot of work on my Home PC on BaseCamp in preparation for a RoadTrip.

I have created multiple Collections...that I use as kind of layer. Each Collections show different waypoints,track,etc...that will be use for different usage

Is there a way to copy or transfer now Collections on the Laptop that will be use for the RoadTrip

Andre
  • Sure. Do a backup on your desktop and a restore on your laptop using that backup file.

I'm using OneDrive to sync databases between computers so all of them have the same data available.
Just need to be a bit careful not to open BaseCamp same time or immediately after session on another computer before sync has happened.

You can also investigate using our cloud storage option. Sign in to myGarmin (SignIn menu option), then enable cloud storage (Transfer-->Enable Cloud Storage). You can access data you put in cloud storage across multiple computers.

I'm using dropbox to share database between 3 computers ... just don't make any changes simultaneously on 2 or more computers and you'll be fine.
  • I been using DropBox for many years to sync between three computers. In my opinion it has several advantages over other options. Syncing is the biggest advantage, in that you just open BaseCamp on either computer and you have update data. If you don't have internet access, not a problem it will sync when you get connected. You have a 30 day backup of all changes stored in DropBox Cloud.

    Hi PSEABOLT
Where do you get to Preferences-Advance in Basecamp?
  • Not sure what you're asking but in any case BaseCamp is being updated shortly to remove certain features. Best if you explain what you are trying to do. For information here is the update release:

Updates Are Coming to HomePort and BaseCamp Next month, Garmin is releasing new versions of HomePortTm and BaseCampTm that provide improved data security. At that time, Garmin will retire the Cloud Storage option. Be sure to export your user data from Garmin Cloud Storage before May 21, 2018. In addition, BaseCampTm allows you to configure your favorite cloud storage provider as a replacement so you can keep your favorite waypoints in the same place you store your other important files. Please note, data will no longer be available from Garmin Cloud Storage after May 21, 2018. Detailed instructions for exporting your user data can be found in our FAQ.

If you used BaseCamp with Garmin AdventuresTm, thank you for your participation in our online community for the past 5 years. It’s with sorrow we announce the end of Garmin Adventures. Any adventures you have created in BaseCamp will remain on your local computer but will be removed from the online community after May 21, 2018. You will still be able to create Garmin Adventures on your computer and load them to your Garmin device. See our BaseCamp Support Center content if you need assistance.

For HomePort users, Garmin offers an alternative to manage your waypoints, routes and other user data, without the need for the computer. The new ActiveCaptain[SUP]®[/SUP] app, available for both Apple[SUP]®[/SUP] and AndroidTm mobile devices, lets you create and sync waypoints and routes between your mobile device and your compatible chartplotter and much more. HI,
I know this is an old thread but since it was revived...
How exactly does one go about syncing the important data between computers using one drive? I have a one drive computer and 3 pc's to sync between.
    Thanks
  • Not sure what you mean by a one drive computer?? The simplest way is to network them together, assuming they are all on one system, then copy the relevant data files across but perhaps you can clarify exactly what your setup is and what you're trying to do?

Wow, I should have stuck around a bit longer, I wasn't expecting such a quick response!
Sorry, I seem to have mangled my post somehow. What I think I was trying to say is that I have Onedrive (Microsoft cloud service) syncing my PC's via the cloud already.
I use it to sync my documents, pictures and music folders and it works well. It seems as though I could also sync the required Basecamp folders using Onedrive and as long as I allow Onedrive to complete syncing before opening Basecamp, I will have the same routes, waypoints, POI's etc on all machines.
Do you know which folders I would need to sync and where I will find them?
