I need to download and save the data off of an eTrex H so that I can continue to record new data using this device. I am part of a research team and all of us have relatively new laptops that lack a serial connection, and the eTrex H comes with a serial cord. We bought a serial-USB adapter and I used it to connect the GPS to my computer, but my computer does not recognize the eTrex H even using the adapter. Is there something I need to do to put the eTrex H into mass storage mode? Or is it simply not compatible with new laptops?
