estimated time of travel when hiking

I've been skiing in the Alps all my adult life. Now I want enjoy it in the summer doing hiking. I'm the proud owner of a Garmin GSPMAP 64st.
Together with map: Transalpin V4 Pro I want to plan tracks for hiking. I have noticed that when planning a hiking route the amount of travel time
is estimated as if walking on a normal flat road. Walking in the mountains is of course something completely different. I can't find anywhere in menu where I can adjust this.
I am using the Mac version of Basecamp.
Does anyone know how to adjust the calculated travel time?

regards
Barney

I've been trying to figure out how to do this as well. I found a post from 2013 discussing this but I guess there hasn't been any progress on this feature.
  • You can select different activity profiles, including ones for hiking. Within them you can adjust speeds as you see fit.

However in practice Basecamp is never going to get this correct as it depends on how high/how steep/how rugged etc the countryside is that you're hiking through.

Unfortunately on Mac BC doesn't offer a speed adjustment for hiking, walking, or mountaineering. We just allow it road based profiles.

I'll forward this request along to our planning team, but I can't say if we'll ever get to it.
