This feels like it is a really nOOb question, but after using BaseCamp for years an issue I have with the detail at various levels is finally bugging me enough to search out the answer.
How do I set the zoom level at which various details appear? There apparently must be a way, because not all details are shown at all levels. All I can find, unfortunately, is in Preferences -> Display -> Hide Map Features is that I can completely turn off or on particular elements, but not selectively enable them at certain levels.
The main reason this is an issue for me is that when I zoom out to wider views (like, the 20, 30, 50 mile and up scales) I don't want to see all of the dots for every little village and hamlet. For example, right now I have it opened on a state-wide view of West Virginia at the 20 mile scale, and it is showing me the dots and names of places that have a population under 500 people, which are clearly not "Cities".
What I really want, and believe I had in MapSource and DeLorme's Street Atlas (neither of which I use anymore), is a way to set the zoom level at which various population centers appear (eg, 0-1000, 1000-10000, 10000-50000, 50000+). Understandably that depends on population data that Garmin might not have, so if I could just control the level that "Cities" is displayed at, that would be a significant improvement.
When searching for an answer to this I have come across a few references to "View -> Toolbars -> Detail Level" that appears to just be a Windows version thing. It is not on my Mac version (3.3.2.0).
What I am missing? Thank you in advance for guidance.
