Converting tracks to routes

Is there any way I can control the number of route points when converting a track to a route?

I recently switched from Windows to Mac, and I am setting up BaseCamp OS X. In Windows, when I converted a track to a route, BaseCamp let me specify the number of intermediate track points I wanted to keep as route points. I kept enough that the distance and ETA estimates for the route would be pretty accurate.

I have tried converting a track to a route in OS X BaseCamp, and I don't get the same option. As nearly as I can tell, the conversion algorithm simply takes the start and end points of the track and calculates a bare-bones route with minimal route points. As a result, any distance to destination and ETA estimates are wildly inaccurate.

Is there any way in BaseCamp to control the number of points used in converting a track to a route? If not, is there any other OS X app that would let me do such a conversion with control over the points used? I'm thinking I could export the track, perform the conversion in that other app, and then import the resulting route back into BaseCamp. Thanks in advance for your help.
