Problem with imported route when encountering road block or deviation

Hi,

Just experimented with a track imported from Google Maps into Basecamp and made a route from this track with no issues. I Transferred this to a temporarily borrowed Nuvi 2445 which perfectly displays the imported route.

When you choose the route and follow it exactly, there is no issue at all. The Nuvi 2445 will guide you all the way to the destination perfectly following the imported route. However if you miss a turn or you have to follow a local deviation, the Nuvi recalculates the route towards the end destination without taking into account the imported route.

Does anyone know whether this is still a problem with more recent Nuvi's?

A possible solution is to work with manually inserted waypoints, but this makes creating the route a lot more time consuming. In addition the Nuvi 2445 only shows the route to follow until the next waypoint and not until the end destination.

I'm sorry if this post is not in the correct forum or subforum, but I've been searching for a solution for quite some time and would appreciate any help in resolving this issue.

You'll need to insert some waypoints if you want your nuvi to act the way you wish. If you don't then a deviation will force a recalculation, and if there is only an end point it will recalculate to there.

Note later nuvis show the whole trip .... Those from 2013 onwards. They use a different version of trip planner.

Does the Nuvi have a way to disable automatic recalculation? That's the main way I handle the problem on my Zumo; the other way is to just restart the route and to say "no" when it asks if I want to navigate to the start of it.

No, you can't disable automatic recalculation on nuvis.

Not navigating to the start won't really help either, since the nuvi (those using trip planner) will always recalculate a route to whatever viapoint in the trip you select. From that point onwards though it will follow the original route.
