Imported a kmz file from GoogleEarth and Basecamp won't display elevation graph

From GoogleEarth I created a route, exported as a kmz file. However, when I import the kmz to Basecamp and try to "Show Graph", it shows the elevation profile as being flat for the entire route. What am I doing wrong?
