Downloaded Tracks dont show Speed Data

Hi,
I have two queries with regards to Basecamp:

1. I downloaded tracks from my Nuvi 2455 and they dont show speed/time related details. Did I mess up any settings on the device, while I was driving?
2. How do turn on / turn-off viewing various layers in Basecamp? Say for example I want to view only tracks and waypoints and not routes ? I dont see a view related option, where I can select what layers I want to view.
  • 1. Must say I'm not sure if downloaded tracks from a nuvi contain speed/time etc.

    2. No. What you can do is place them in separate files/folders as only the data in a selected file/folder will show on the map.
  • Here is how the difference looks like.

The speed calc is derived from the date/time field and the leg distance. So, if there is no date/time field then no speed. Some older devices would strip out the date/time fields if you saved the track on the device. I have no clue what the Nuvi 2455 does. Was the Nuvi software updated between recording those tracks?

I did notice that a portion of the log file names were different, i.e., WB13 vs VPR2015. Were they made on different devices or does that merely reflect the folders they are stored in on your Mac?
  • Both the tracks are from 2455 Nuvi. I dont remember if I updated the firmware in 2014. I do agree that speed data comes from date/time. Thats precisely what I was looking for in the trackless (time stamps) which I did not find. Hence the surprise. Let me check the source of the two files. I did join many files to create the 2014 Dec track log. Let check the raw source again.

EDIT: I re-downloaded the data from the device from the Archives folder. When I examine the source, I see the time stamps now. Need to check, what did I mess up when I joined the tracks.

Sorry for the thread. Looks like a data processing error at my end.
  • Data looks back to the way it was now.

While analyzing average speed/time data, I find that once I select a portion of the journey in the graph window (the window featuring speed/elevation etc), the average speed and time data for the selected leg comes up on tracklog window. It would be really helpful if it can be overlayed on the graph itself. Can this can be asked as a feature request update?
