I’m being driven crazy by my routes if I miss a waypoint buy a few yards!!! This continues to happen along the whole route right up to the point of your final destination.

When I miss a waypoint on a route on my nuvi 2797LMT Samantha will habitually tell me to turn around and reroutes every conceivable alternate route.

This happens to the point where I have to shut the unit off because it becomes useless as the screen is so cluttered with magenta lines and broad white turn around arrows it all becomes a confusing maze even on a 7” screen. Very troubling for short cuts coming home from busy cluttered cities.

I searched for similar occurrences and found this link to GPSCity where others were having the same problem. The thread is 1.2 years old and the fix for that time does not apply to BaseCamp 4.4.5 on a Mac.
http://www.gpscity.com/questions?qid=36767 I’ll post here again too to to see what other users are doing for a fix.

Appreciate any solutions to this problem.
  • Just set waypoints as do not alert/shaping points. You can do that either via Basecamp or on your device.

Thanks SUSSAMB, that's what the GPSCity link suggested.

I've checked every menu I know about and don't see the option you suggest. Could someone that uses BaseCamp and a Mac please spell out a path that I can follow to accomplish this task on both BaseCamp & Device?

I must be missing something obvious here???

    Thanks
  • On your device go into Apps, select trip planner then the route. Tap the flag symbol next to the waypoint and you'll get a message saying '... Change to shaping point', select yes. The flag symbol will be replaced by an orange circle showing it's a shaping point. Shaping points will not be announced and can be missed at will.

In Basecamp, at least in Windows, just right click any waypoint in a route and choose 'Don't alert on arrival'.

On a Mac just open the route properties and then right click on the waypoints (singly or in a group) and select "do not alert"

    Hi SUSSAMB!

    Much joy, I thank you!!!

Still can't find 'change to shaping point' in the Mac BaseCamp yet though? Have to get back to Jack & others for that.

    Hi Jack,

Thank's I did finally find out how to locate the change for the waypoint in the route dialog.

All is starting to get fun now!
