Hi,

trying to import a kmz file from Google Maps to Basecamp 4.4.5 and getting error message of ".... is not a valid KMZ file and could not be opened." Anyone know how to cure this?

I must say I deeply disappointed in Basecamp the old Roadtrip software was a lot better.

Thanks

Best Regards

Geoff

Thanks for bringing this to our attention. I was able to recreate the issue on 10.10.

Wurth thanks for the comment. Does this mean a fix is being worked on?

Using OS-X 10.9.5 and just updated to BaseCamp 4.4.5 through the App Store and imported a KMZ file directly into BC without a hitch.

    Worked like a charm.

It's not actively being worked on. I created a case for it, but I won't know for some time if we'll be able to get it into the next release.

It depends what's in the KML. Images seem ok, but KML with route data are causing a problem. At least that's what I've found so far.

I am trying to import a KMZ file from Google Earth. Using Basecamp 4.4.6, Google Earth 7.1.2.2041, and Windows7 64bit. Import to Basecamp produces:

    C:\Users\GregQ\Documents\My Maps\Echo Lake Quadrangle.kmz Warning GroundOverlay:Echo Lake Quadrangle:Invalid LatLonBox.

An entry appears in 'My Collection' but nothing displays on the map. The 'My Collection' entry has an entry within it which I select and change the 'Draw Order' to '100' but still nothing shows up on the map.

    GregQ

P.S. I am trying to make a custom map.

File->'Import into' not working at all???

A restart of my Mac resolved the import issue that I reported below, great!!!

    BaseCamp 4.4.6

    File->Import into not working???

Anyone else experiencing the importing of files not working at all?

On first try the import dialog box opens blank and all gray. On a second try the import dialog box does not open at all, but the ‘list’ that is selected blinks light blue for a split second.

If I close and reopen BaseCamp the same behavior is repeated.

The app store shows three updates of version 4.4.6 with the last one dated December 18, 2014.

I have the opposite problem:: exported BC route to gpx file. tried to import into Google Maps / My Maps and Google returns file format not supported. I am running Win BC 4.4.6 on Win 8.1 computer. In another thread, several BC forum respondents says it works - but not for me.

Just converted the KMZ to GPX file and imported that into BC without issue. SO I don't think there is anything wrong with KMZ file. Shared here: https://www.dropbox.com/s/39ub2p5uhrpsj12/Portsmouth%20to%20Rhyl.kmz?dl=0

    Thanks for your help.
