Why can I not complete a 400 mile route on Basecamp unlike Mapsource?

Who knows? Perhaps with a little more detail we can help. You can certainly create routes of hundreds of miles in Basecamp just like in Mapsource.

What map are you using? How are you trying to create the route? Where/how is it failing?
