Birdseye removal / route query

I have been trying to do routes and I have read lots of threads about different planning i.e. walking, hiking, driving, cycling, and direct. I presume you cannot mix them. I have tried to route walking and its great for roads and paths etc then i wanted to go to a point direct (no paths, roads, tracks to a trig point) i changed the method to direct but it would not allow this. Before I look to buy software to achieve this on my Mac, is there a solution? and what software would people recommend.

Many Thanks Lee

Don't know what the BirdsEye Removal is all about but Mac-BaseCamp will most certainly allow you to create a single Route with multiple Activity Modes. Start your route and then open the route properties window for the route by double-clicking on the Route in the List window. Select the last point where you want to start a different Activity. To the right you will see a small Icon for the Activity (next to the travel time). This Icon is the Activity mode assigned to that Via Point. Selecting a new Activity will assign that Activity Mode to all new Via Points. Want to change to a new Activity, select the last Via Point and change it's Activity.
