BaseCamp Wont send my planned route to device withour recalculation

Hi All,

My Garmin Edge 810 sync will not send my route from my Mac Base camp to my 810 without the error "Recalculation due to the map is not on the 810"

What I mean is the 810 has an SD card with City Navigator Europe Maps pre installed. When I sync it says the map on My 810 is different so cannot copy the route across.

It then recalculates on the device and turns a 27 mile circuit to a 461 mil circuit

Not helpful.

I might be being stupid, but I also cannot scroll across the map while creating a route is there a shortcut key that lets me do this????

Thanks
  • Basecamp may not be seeing the map on the sd card, you should be able to use JaVaWa's device manager to make it visible http://www.javawa.nl/jdm_en.html

To move across the map when creating a route you can use the up down left right keys on your mac, assuming it has them?

Also (at least on the Windows version) as you approach the edge of the map you'll see a large arrow appear, click then and the map will move across.

Switch off all three settings in Device Transfer found in the BC preferences!

BC still finds that the map on the computer and in the Edge are different. Only when maps are the same calculation will not take place by BaseCamp, but CN on computer and on device often have different names (in device shorter). BC makes then the mistake to "think" the map is different and recalculates.

With the device settings switched off, BC will ignore map differences. If there is a real map difference, the Edge does not mind, it will convert the route to a course and when activating the course it will calculate the route (course).

Marco, this tip helped me greatly. I have the same maps on my Mac as on my Zumo 550. The maps on my Zumo are split between unit and card. At times the routes imported on the Zumo look crazy and don't follow the BC plan. After removing all the settings in Device Transfer, during import the routes are recalculated [annoying and slow] but the result is a perfect match with the BC planning. Thanks.

ps: I used shaping points between start and finish waypoints.
