Well this sucks....Basecamp does not recognize my installed City Navigator anymore on my Montana 600. I've tried everything I can think of short of buying a Tom Tom. Any thoughts? I searched the forum but did not find any answers...maybe I am looking in the wrong places if there are solutions. Thanks in advance for any help.

Are you having the same issue as me? https://forums.garmin.com/showthread.php?89319-Message-when-sending-route-to-Montana

Yep. My head is about to explode reading all the issues about this version and that version and so on and so on. I guess I can't own more than one garmin device at a time. I guess I have to delete basecamp from my computer, download and instal it again, then plug the device I want to use, then recreate all my routes for that device. Then do the same thing again with my other device. I have an expensive montana 600 and a 2797 that I am ready to sell and go back to using maps. I felt much better getting lost in the past than putting up with all this mess. Geez.
  • I'm not sure what your particular issue is but I run 3 nuvis and an Etrex 20 off Basecamp without problems, and have done so for years. It recognises all the maps on all the devices, this includes Garmin CN maps and numerous OSM maps, and I can transfer routes/waypoints between them all. That doesn't help your particular problem I know so hopefully the Basecamp team can resolve it for you, as there must be something strange about your particular setup/device.

Perhaps you could confirm what OS you're running and whether the map is on a card or the device, and how you obtained it?

Thanks for the reply. I am running Mac OS10.9.4 on a Macbook Air latest model. I have done everything I can think of but Basecamp does not recognize my installed City Navigator 2013 on my Montana anymore. Only the World Base one. I have reinstalled base camp three times, reset my Montana, deleted ALL base camp backups, restarted everything, pulled the battery from my Montana an reset it, and am out of ideas. The City Navigator is enabled on the Montana and bad map is disabled. I am just about done......

Do you think this may be Garmins way to force me to upgrade to the newest version of City Navigator? If it is then I will NEVER buy another Garmin product again.
  • It's not that, I can still see old CN maps in basecamp. You've posted this in the Windows forum, I'll move it to the mac one.

You still haven't said though whether the map is on a card or the device itself, and how you got it there?
  • Odd that both TIMTEW and myself are having similar problems when he he using a Mac and I'm using Win 7/64 bit. What we have in common is we are both trying to use CNNT 2015.10 with Montana 600 devices.
In my case the map is on the SD card but I tried it on the device internal with the same results. The map was obtained via Garmin Express, several times :).
Check my latest posting in my message thread in the Windows forum for some details of some experiments I made over the weekend.

I got the unit and CN from GPS city. The map is installed internally on the Montana and not on a SC card. I will try downloading Basecamp again and reinstall again.

My Montana has CN2013 installed and my 2797 has CN 2015 installed. Basecamp sees the 2015 map when I plug in the 2797 but not the 2013 CN when I plug in the Montana.
  • As a suggestion, download the map directly to your computer with Garmin Express. I think you'll find that experience far superior to loading off your device anyway. I will say the option to do that is a bit hidden, but if you choose Advanced Options it shows an option to install to your computer.

As for why they aren't being loaded from your device, try looking at the Console output when BaseCamp starts for any clues about what is going on. We're testing BaseCamp with CNNT 2015.10 right now and are not seeing any problems loading the maps. There are a few drawing issues, particularly around colleges. These are being fixed for the 4.4 release.
