BaseCamp v4.3.4 Create Route from Track...

BaseCamp crashes every time I preform a Create Route from Track. Doesn't seem to matter what the Via Point preference count is set to.
Sure worked well in v4.2.4.
  • At first I wrote "It doesn't crash my system, it just doesn't work. Even on major roads all I get is a straight line between the start and finish, regardless of the activity selected. If the track is a loop, I get nothing."

OK, now it works as it should. After 6 or 8 tries with different saved and just created tracks it started working properly. Tested with 3 different libraries, no issues.

I hate it when this happens.

Not for me. I've tried it over a dozen times with different Tracks and DB's--crashes every time no matter what the number of Via Points I have in the preferences.
  • I just tried with a different computer. With my iMac, 3.1 GHz Intel Core i5, BaseCamp is working as it should creating routes from tracks. With my MacBook Air, 1.7 GHz Intel Core i7, converting a track crashed the first attempt, gave me a straight line start/finish route twice, and now crashes regularly. Very weird.

Yesterday with a customer I had the same problem, if I create a route from a track, the length is 0 and only 2 stops/via-points in it. No crashing BaseCamp however.

After some experiments I found a workaround; if I choose Direct activity in the taskbar of BaseCamp and then create route from track I get the route, with the designated amount of via-points and can I change the routing activity within the route.

    Thanks Marco.
    Excellent workaround.
    Works consistently for me too.

Maybe that works for some folks but I expect Routes to be faithful to the Track so using the Direct Route is not a good option.
