Can BaseCamp remove or block a road?

Black Gap road in the Smoky Mt. NP has been a horse trail for over 20 year. It is a big short cut form Balsam Mt. to Maggie Valley. I have been reporting the map error for years but nothing happens. I just did another report from BaseCamp. I am getting tire of insetting 5 to 10 waypoints to keep BaseCamp from using the road. It there a way to tell BaseCamp not to use the road for routing? City Navigator NT 2014.4

Thanks

We have considered area based avoidances.

I used to do that in MapSource years ago. However since my devices don't support avoidance's of any kind I stopped doing it.

This feature has been on our Wish List since the newer Zumos started supporting this feature. The main issue with per road avoidances is the fact that the roads change every time there is a map update, so the feature would end up being difficult to use for any user with lifetime maps. We have considered area based avoidances. I know this wouldn't be as specific, but they don't get broken every 3 months.

Agree that Road Avoidances would be very hard to keep up with but it is very useful on the device (NAV-5 and new zumo's) if you know that a particular road is bad for whatever reason. The Area Avoid is a perfect option for BaseCamp and it would be most excellent if when used for creating a Route in BaseCamp that the Avoid Area could be passed to the devices that have that feature.

Hope to see this in BaseCamp soon.
  • When I started this thread I had avoid seasonal roads check by mistake. Once I unchecked, the shaping waypoints started working much better.

As long as we are wishing for things like "avoid this road" how about its opposite "use this road", e.g., Blue Ridge Parkway, and others of that ilk, not to mention, follow or avoid this numbered route...
