I get this intermittently. When I create a route by selecting multiple waypoints and then deselect the "Auto Name" option in the resulting route properties window, BaseCamp crashes. Multiple crash reports have been auto submitted. If I leave the name of the route as BaseCamp suggests, close the properties window for that route, come back at a later time, reopen the properties window and then change the name, it appears to be stable.
This is still happening in 4.3.3, but I've discovered a twist. It only happens with a route created by selecting waypoints and using the "create route from..." menu option. If a route is created using the route tool the properties box does not automatically open. Once it's opened manually the route can be renamed with no issues. I've attached a copy of the crash report as this may be one of those problems that's hard to replicate. I've only heard of a few other people having issues.
Edit: When the properties box appears after a route creation the box seems to be greyed out, like it doesn't have the focus. If you change the activity, the route gets recalculated as it should and then can be safely renamed. It's only when you try and rename the highlighted item in the list pane has focus that the crash results.
