How to get basecamp (Mac version 4.3.1) to recognise the CN NA 2015.10 maps ?

Mac user (10.9.3) - Like the cleaning lady said: I don't do windows.

Upgraded my nuvi 3590 LTM using garmin express 3.1.5.0
to the latest software and maps (north american) 2015.10

Updated nice and fine on the nuvi as far as I can tell.

But it didn't update the maps in basecamp (installed via app store - 4.3.1 ).

Been reading up a bit about this - seems the common response is to use mapupdater but that one wants to install old maps only (not the 2015.10).

Finding the maps downloaded by garmin express (~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Express/Maps/NA.2015.10/IMG/.../City Navigator North America NT 2015.10.gmap) and having mapmanager 3.0.1 "install" them actually does copy the file to basecamp maps directory (~/Library/Application Support/Garmin/Maps/City Navigator North America NT 2015.10.gmap) but basecamp utterly fails at seeing it as installed...

So am I now condemned at trying to downgrade the maps on my nuvi in order to get the same map data on my mac and on my nuvi ?
Or is there hope still ?

I understand Garmin not wanting to give away maps to everybody, but it is quite silly to not let those of us who actually have a license use it due to these restrictions.

    garmin express 3.1.5.0

Despite having downloaded express today directly from the Garmin website, it just now prompted to upgrade itself to 3.2.5.0
And trying it again after that, there's an "advanced" option that allows one to update the computer as well as the device...

Why can't it be the default to update both or at least ask what to do if basecamp is installed on the machine ... it would be the smart, user-friendly, less support cases, etc. choice ...

Basecamp seems to load it now on first looks.

So for those seeking the answer:
    - make sure express is up to date
    - use the advanced options to set it to update both the device and the computer

    - forget mapinstaller it's not doing what you think it should do (nor what it tells you it is doing)
