Improved device information
Improved creating route from track
Added preview how the tracks will be joined
Added ability to edit multiple tracks and routes
Added split route capability
Added per device transfer preferences
Added ability to remove 'shaping' points in route sent to device. This will help get around the 50 via limit as well as announcing of the point.
Added customizable activity profiles
Added ability to move, delete, split, select and insert into the context menu
Added ability to plot multiple route/track attributes in same chart
Added timeouts for gCloud synchronization
Added option to preserve original tracks during track join
Added progress indication for exports
Added support for curvy roads in routing options
Fixed bug when drawing grasslands
Added warning message when user modifies read-only device data
Added grade to elevation profile
Added preference setting for grade display format
Added the ability to automatically copy lodging to the next 'travel day' in trip planner.
Fixed issue where lodging wasn't always copied to all hub days in trip planner.
Fixed travel method bug when adding points to mixed mode routes
Fixed issue with printing itinerary that had empty days
Improved issue where we were duplicating waypoints on the device
Changed import to match Windows BaseCamp behavior. If My Collection or a folder is selected, the import creates a list. If a list is selected, the data is imported into that list.
Improved lodging propagation in both travel and hub days
Improved duplicate list to be able to duplicate list contents as well
Increased limit for custom grid meters
  • Don't install it - completely BUGGY!

The timings are completely messed up, it appears to calculate everything for "walking". It's confusing, now they added "Arrive" and "Calculated Arrive" without any explanation of the difference. Of course they both calc "walking" speeds for all profiles. Even the hover over times are WRONG.

The release also no longer attaches to the cloud for whatever reason.

On start it corrupted my preference file and deleted all my folders and smart folders.

The launcher is a dumb idea.

You can no longer add and delete waypoint/routes etc directly on the attached device. Now they duplicate every time you change something, but still produce an error message but no warning.

This release has so many regressions I don't think it was ever tested.

I agree: DO NOT install, at least not without having proper backups BEFORE you update.
I normally trust that updates via the Apple's Software Update mechanism have been tested. Hence I updated without hesitation, but this was a disaster. On the first start Basecamp hang on reading the maps from my device. After a long wait (two hours actually) I had to force a quit and then restarted. Basecamp read the maps correctly this time, however it claimed that the library was corrupt and also the backup. So there I am with my data lost! A disaster for anyone not having a backup! I have not yet tested if my own backup works (fortunately I made one a week ago and put it away safely), my prime purpose with this post is a quick WARNING to anyone updating. I will test further and hopefully my backup works, time will tell. Otherwise I will have to switch back to the previous version (if I can find it).

Reluctantly, I must add my voice to the problem list. I am getting the same error I and others got under the Beta: "An error occurred loading your data Your list data file is corrupted, and its backup file is corrupt"

This is under 10.9.3 on a 21.5 inch mid 2007 iMac w 4 GB of main memory.

If possible I am uninstalling and going back to the previous version.

EDIT: I deleted all my lists, keeping the unique data in each list having any, except "last week", "last month" and "unlisted" but it still errored out or startup! So, I got rid of "last month" and "last week" too and was able to get a clean install (obviously because I had NO lists!)

Then I reinstalled 3.2.4 and restored my backup and then EXPORTED each list by list and once again deleted each list while keeping the unique items, if any, in that list. Then ran the upgrade and then recreated each deleted list (except the empty lists I had had formerly) and then imported the items previously exported from that list. 4.3.1 will now shutdown and restart without erroring out on my list structure files.

I had created a trip in 4.2.4 and exported that also. However, when I imported it there seemed to be no option to bring it back in as a trip, so now its just a list.

Now, to see how the rest of 4.3.1 works. END OF EDIT

It is possible that my original lists file did contain an error of some sort but 3.2.4 was able to function successfully with those lists files without reporting an error.

I've had at least two issues with 4.3.1 (I installed it a couple of days ago, from the app store)

Initially I was able to open it and everything seemed fine. Later I noticed that timestamps on tracks were off. It seemed like the conversion from the UTC times recorded in the tracks to local time was off by two hours. After futzing around and finding a similar problem on a few tracks and checking timezone settings on my Mac etc. I decided to quit and restart BaseCamp.

Upon restart I got some message about my listing file, AND its backup being corrupt (Can't recall exact wording). All my data seemed to be missing... restarted again and my data was back, but my folder structure of various lists and folders was gone and everything was listed under a special folder "unlisted". Not good.

I pulled the previous version I had been running (4.2.4) out of Time Machine and tried that - all good. I won't be upgrading until I see some indication that these issues are fixed.

    Possibly useful data:
    OSX 10.9.3 - iMac 21.5-inch Mid 2010/core i3/12G Ram

Same issue here: first an error message, and when I restarted Basecamp I'd lost all folders. Data all in one long list. Could recover my data from Time machine, but on my next attempt 4.3.1 came right back with the same error.

Can anyone tell me which files I need to reinstall from Time machine to go back to the previous version of Basecamp?

    Thx, Johan
  • I too have had endless problems since the update to this latest version. A carefully defined cycle route was completely corrupted on my Edge 800 rendering it useless on the road. When I import tracks from the Edge Basecamp adds 2 hours to the timings. It added 3 hours to a saved .GPX file too! I await a proper update to resolve these many errors. Fortunately I still have a computer running the previous and reliable version of Basecamp.

Same issue as others....all list data is apparently corrupt and now all my folders and route lists are gone.

When I try and create a route, as soon as i unselect "Autoname" route it is a lottery as to whether the programme crashes or continues to work!

    Please get this fixed...

Me too, but it happend just once fortunately. After that it seems to be fine.
  • Same here. Corrupt data. Anyone know how to get the previous version?
  • Found the prior version here http://www.macupdate.com/app/mac/31527/garmin-basecamp

Seems to work fine. You can go to ~/Library/Application Support on your computer and look for folder look for Garmin, BaseCamp and 4.2. Your last good data is there.
