Clearing All Routes from the Device

When using trip-planner through base camp I have the following issues :

- Before I transfer any routes via Basecamp, I make sure all routes are deleted in the device. (Apps -> Trip Planner -> Delete Routes)
- Then when I am done with trip planning on my Mac, I connect the GPS device. I select only that folder list which contains the route for the trip.
- And then I send that selected folder list to device
- But when I open the device after the transfer, I see many other routes also being transferred. Anything that I am not doing correctly?

There also seem to be many remaining routes which seem to get transferred.
  • Ensure the routes you want to send are in their own list, and that instead of selecting the folder list you select only the routes within that list. That should resolve any issues.
  • I just tried by:

    - Creating a list and adding only those routes which I need to transfer
    - Then I selected them and transferred.
    - I see that: It again transfers every thing in "My Collection"
    - And intact apart from the routes in "My Collection" I also see many duplicate routes showing up. Like "Route-A" and "Route-A 1"
    - And of the two only "Route-A" is a part of my collection.
    - Again not sure where is the other one coming from?
  • I suspect you're getting the additional routes as you've left previously sent gpx files on your nuvi. Basecamp will send routes etc to your nuvi as a .gpx file placed in the GPX folder. These files are always merged with routes etc already on the nuvi. If you don't delete them you can delete the routes on your nuvi but when you reboot they'll just be re-merged.

You don't say which nuvi you have but to start with a clean slate you'll need to first view the GPX folder and delete any gpx files you find there. Ensure since you're on a mac you also empty the trash. Then disconnect the nuvi from your mac, reboot it and then delete all the routes on your GPS.

Now you should be able to send just the routes you want to your nuvi. Once you're happy they're on the nuvi go back and delete the additional gpx files in the GPX folder and again empty the trash.

Thanks. Tried that approach. It works. I think I had that done once long back, but forgot about it. Thanks for reminding!

Sorry, I did not mention that. Mine a Nuvi 2455.

Thanks again for a quick response!
