Locations Being Duplicated...Can This Be Avoided?

I'm running GarminBC v4.2.4 on my Mac. When I download routes into my BMW NAV 5, I end up getting repeat locations in the database. For example, I have a location called "HOME" which is what it sounds like. Every time I create a new custom route where "HOME" is the final destination, I wind up with additional "HOME" locations called HOME1, HOME2, HOME3 etc. This occurs with other saved locations that I use over again when creating different routes...such as favorite restaurants, gas stations and the like.

Is there a setting that can be used to stop this behavior or is that just a characteristic of the software?

I had the same problem several years back. I have not seen any duplicates in a couple of years and I think it is because I always start and new list for each trip and add Home to the list. I think if you have all the waypoints used in the route in the list you are working from, you will not get the duplicated waypoints.

Let us know if it works. I create routes by selecting waypoints form the list in the order I want the route to go. I right click any selected waypoint and create the route. It easier than selecting my collection for waypoints and I assume prevents duplicates.

The upcoming 4.3 version is less aggressive about creating duplicate waypoints. I'm not sure that change was in the beta or I'd suggest you give it a try. If the 4.3 release doesn't fix your issue, please post back.
