Before 4.3.0.1 the Nuvi 3597 handle BaseCamp list as categories. If you uploaded waypoints contained in multiple list the list would appear on the Nuvi for selection before the waypoints would show. That feature is gone with 4.3.0.1. Now when I upload a waypoint that is contained in multiple list in base camp the waypoints appear. I assume if I upload 12 waypoints with 12 categories assigned, the categories will replace the list. I have not tested the assumption.
Categories are not connected to lists in BaseCamp starting with 4.3.0.1. That connection was causing issues for too many users. The categories that you assign a waypoint to in BaseCamp, may put that waypoint in lists on the device, depending on the device.
Certainly on the PC version it now partly works as I expected for my 2508 and 1490 ...
Nuvi categories are retained when sent to Basecamp, and waypoints with categories sent to the nuvi are shown against those categories.
Lists now are immaterial, which means that at the moment waypoints transferred to Basecamp appear in one long list. That isn't what I'd prefer, as I'd hoped that nuvi categories could be sorted somehow within Basecamp. Hopefully that will follow.
