  • Routing Weirdness

I'm not sure if this anomaly was present in the previous version or not. Another argument for having a separate instal for a beta.

The routing algorithms, fastest, shortest and curvy don't necessarily provide those results. The following images of a fairly simple route that I've ridden many times illustrate. The only difference between the three profiles is the fastest/shortest/curvy selection. All avoidances are set identically.

First, shortest. 1101 km, 14:23 time.

Next "Fastest" 1068 km. 11:53 time

And "Curvy" 1075 km, 13:18 time. This is not a "curvy" route at all. About as far from it as you could get. This route should be close to 1400 km long based on my experience.

More to the point, a simple waypoint insertion based on a visual results in:

A route that is 1075 km and should be following scenic curvy secondary highways instead of the Trans Canada. Almost 100 km shorter that the route created with the profile based on "Shortest Route" preference.

    Is this the correct behaviour?
  • I have noticed the following two minor issues:
    * when selecting a route in the previous version you would see the route in a more intense colour, plus there were arrows visible at intervals showing travel direction. The new beta version does not do this.
    * If I zoom in on the route, I can frequently find small spikes where the via point has gone about 30-50m into the non road area.

    Thanks, Joachim

If I double click the route or right click the route on the map and select the route form the popup I get the more intense color or bold route. The arrows are missing for me too.

First corrupt data file. Later corrupt data file AND corrupt backup file.

    Nice going!

    eTrex 20 latest firmware.
  • Clicking on a column in the "Directions" view of the route properties window crashes the application.

Will there be a 4.3.0.2 BETA out anytime soon?
I'm running into "Your list data file is corrupted, using the back up file" w/ 4.3.0.1 as well.
Another issue nagging me since ages is that BC crashes if I try to export a GPS track immediately after importing it from my CS60x. Have to quit and reopen BC to make it work...
