Hi, today I started to plan my Us vacation for 2014, last week I've updated my imac with the latest version on Basecamp and surprise when I try to upload map to my old 276c it takes more than six hours. Unbelivable!!!! Same problem with windows installed on vmware parallel it take 3 hours. I've tested same situation on another windows pc and surprise it works perfectly and took just 20 minutes for the operation. I suppose Maverik and Basecamp/Mapsource are incompatible. I'd like to try the old version of base camp but where do I get it. I've tried to contact Garmin with no success, any idea? Thanks
BaseCamp doesn't send maps, only user data. It does use a separate application called MapInstall that can be run by itself. I can say that application hasn't changed significantly in over a year. We'll try it out with 10.9 to see if there is any difference in behavior. We are finding some non-trivial surprises in that OS.
Just as a data point, my 3.2 gHz Intel iMac i3 running 10.9.2 seems happy with BC 4.2.4.
I'm doing a bunch of trip planning, so am not willing to tackle a beta at this time. But the existing setup is doing everything I need: routing, waypoints, activities, etc.
