Monterra has problems connecting with Basecamp most of the time?

My Monterra only connects with BaseCamp about 20% of the attempts. It connects with PC most, if not all, the time.
I have not figured out how to resolve this - anyone else seeing this?

Is there any way to manually go look for it or connect it?

Also, I have the BaseCamp mobile on iPad but it refuses to pull down waypoints from the cloud storage - just tracks and pictures?

Thanks - in advance

    I had BC connect issues early on in the Monterra's dev life but have not had any since release level software: v2.20_1.16.00. You are using BC v4.2.4 right?
    Do you have Android File Transfer installed? If you do, make sure you Quit the app before starting BaseCamp.
  • Since Android is using MTP which is natively supported by Windows, but not Mac OS, connections are a little more fragile on the Mac. Only one application at a time can connect to a MTP device, so as DRTBYK said, make sure Android File Transfer is not running. In fact if you don't need it, uninstall it, because it starts a background process that can cause issues. Make sure BaseCamp is running when you plug the Monterra in. Even multiple Garmin applications can't share the device, so make sure you are only running one Garmin application at a time, e.g. if you run MapInstall or WebUpdater from BaseCamp, you'll want to quit BaseCamp after the other application is started. Sorry for the inconvenience.

    Great point about Android File Transfer's background process (Android File Transfer Agent) which I always kill (force quite) before running BaseCamp or other Garmin Apps--no need to worry about Garmin Express v2.5.3 still can't see the Monterra.

    I have trouble with BC on my macbook pro too; message error can not communicate with device; did not know about
    android file transfer until today; and tried it; at least i can see and move the gpx files to the macbook, now i can view the gpx files with the base camp;
    however i have taken notice that several of the waypoint gpx files on the list; BC can not import so i can't see or read the files ? i need to view these
    waypoints because these represent my customers; as i sell gourmet foods door to door and my customers are in all parts of Alberta...

    I'm in the same boat…my Mac simply can't detect my Monterra. I can't wait to find the solution for this or get a refund. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  • If you've killed the Android File Transfer application and background process and it still won't detect your Monterra, you should contact customer support.

    Your Mac will not find the Monterra but BaseCamp should if, like azdrmn said, you have Quit the Android File Transfer (AFT) app. If you don't want to use BaseCamp then you will have to use AFT to access the Monterra internal/external storage.

    Just updated the Monterra and BC. Connect the GPS / quit the AFT program / open BC. All will be well :)
