Plan a route/trip//

Hi All,
I have a need to build and store, for repetitive use, a trip (or tour) of almost 20 points of interest in my 1450LMT. I would like to be able to build it in Basecamp, transfer it to the 1450LMT and then start it whenever I need it. Can anyone tell me what the best way is to achieve this?

All assistance is greatly appreciated.

Thanks.
  • Just build the route in Basecamp, connect your 1450, send the route to your 1450, then go to My Data on the 1450 and select Import Routes ... select the route you've just sent and import it.
  • Just a note of caution. Your 1450 will recalculate the route based on the route settings on the 1450LTM. If you use fastest in BaseCamp and your GPS is set to shortest, the route will change considerably when uploaded and recalculated. If you us a route in BC that is unavailable on you GPS, the uploaded route may not be exactly the same shown in BC because the GPS routing preference are a subset of BC routing preferences. When you upload a route, you have to go to MY DATA and get the route and tell the GPS to load again. If your 20 POI stops are for multiple days, I think you will want the break the route into day trips for use with your GPS. It is fine the keep the entire route in BC for information but again I think you will want to break the route into day trips before uploading to the GPS. When I used a 1450LMT, I deleted and Waypoints and routes from previous trips. I uploaded waypoints, I seldom uploaded a route because I found it easier to just to use waypoints to create the route on the GPS. I always used routing preferences on BC that I could match on the GPS.

Thanks to a tip from SUSSAMB, that nüvi® 3597LMTHD did not recalculate routes, I upgraded my GPS. I feel the 3597 is well worth the additional cost. This is just a guess, but I think the 3597 does recalculate the route but BC uploads the preferences and the 3598 has been able to match BC preferences for all the routes I have uploaded. I have not tried all the Activities available in BC but the 3597 had upload the exact same route 100% for the preferences I have tried. Much more information for intersections, you can display upcoming food and gas on the driving display, track more trip information on the GPS just to name a few advantages.
